Saturday 12 August. Ross to Kerne Bridge.

We left the White House at 9:15 am and climbed up into Ross. The two hours we spent yesterday finding the route out of town was a good investment. We took the road down past the hospital to enter a small wood. On exiting the wood the path turned sharp right and the climbing began. We were quickly rewarded with a good view back to Ross.

We then entered another wooded area to come out in a second clearing, climbing all the way. Some new  path signs today.

The path then descended very steeply, and was quite slippy at times. Frau Barr has more trouble with descents than climbs. We descended to the village, and road, shown
in the photo when we then started climbing again.

Shiel needed a rest before we continued up hill past a small vineyard and then beside a house. We had an interesting chat with the owner, who showed us a sign for walkers specially carved by her husband.

We then went down some very narrow roads which were a bit unnerving at times. We got a slight view of Goodrich Castle before descending to the Inn on the Wye near Kearne Bridge.
