We left Dryslade farm in slight drizzle at 9:20am and headed downhill to English Bicknor, turning left down Balls Hill, and then right to join the road we came up two days earlier. However this time we followed the road round to the left as it gradually morphed into a 'right of way' down to the Wye. The path was initially wooded but did open out for a while before coming wooded again as we descended.
At one ponit there was a possible deviation uphill to the left but we carried straiht on past a new house up to our left and a large building waste pile on our right. We think the path is being diverted up behind the house.
The path continued on climbing through woodland with the occasional view. The area was more rocky than on previous days.
We passed a number of abandoned cottages in the woods which will no doubt soon be converted to large new houses and the path diverted.
There was quite a bit of climbing on steps, but the views gained were limited before we eventually descended to the road and then the path by the river to Symonds Yat.
Symonds Yat is another popular canoeing area.
