We stopped for coffee at a pub at Symonds Yat and took a table outside overlooking the hand-hauled ferry from the far bank. A very pleasant spot spoilt somewhat by the smell of septic tank.
From here to Monmouth the walk was flat and easy and the rain had stopped and the sun was shining.
We walked south through woods for about 2 miles before crossing to the West bank of the Wye by a remakably sturdy swing bridge.
The path continued on initially through woodland, with the odd fallen tree before turning sharp left, on nearing the A40. The path continued to Monmouth with a peaceful river on the left and the noisy A40 on pur right.
